Sliding sash window planning permission

Conservation area and listed building planning permission

If you live in a conservation area you may need planning permission to upgrade or change your sliding sash windows, typically this is in relation to the "Removal of Article 4, Permitted development rights", in Sheffield this is particularly important if you live in the Broomhill or Netheredge catchment where the removal of article 4 is the norm. If this is the case then planning permission is needed to upgrade your sliding sash windows and changing them to casement or upvc windows will almost certainly result in the windows having to be re-instated with timber sliding sash windows.
